Intimate Apparel's Opening Night a Great Success

University of Pittsburgh Stage's current MainStage production, Intimate Apparel, by Pulitzer-Prize-winner Lynn Nottage officially opened on Friday, October 7th to a full and very enthusiastic house. The cast and audience celebrated afterwards with nachos, popcorn, beverages and a photobooth. Responses to the funny and sometimes heartbreaking play, beautifully executed by a passionate director and dedicated cast, were resoundingly positive.

The play follows six characters, most African-American, in early 1900s New York City through their loves, labors, friendships, compromises, disappointments and dreams. Every actor brought skill, strength and a thorough emotional life to their characters. The audience was engaged from start to finish, laughing, gasping, and sometimes shedding a bittersweet tear or two. Be sure to see this poignant, funny and excellent show while you can. The final performance is October 16th- click here for tickets and times.
