New Semester, New Season, New Site

This year Pitt Theatre Arts is embarking on a brand new collaboration with the music department.  For the first time in either department's history, we’ll be teaming up to produce Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (which is also the first musical our department has ever performed on the mainstage).

The whole season is full of firsts, really.  In November, Dave Peterson (one of our grad students) will direct the English-language premiere of This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing, a contemporary fairy tale by Finegan Kruckemeyer. We’ll also be hosting a New Play Festival in January as part of our student lab season, and in February we'll present The Gammage Project, a brand-new work by Buck Favorini and Mark Clayton Southers (of Pittsburgh Playwrights), about the Johnny Gammage trial of the mid-1990s.

Also of note: our new and improved Web site.  After months of planning and preparation, we're proud to show off our new page.  As freshmen were moving into their new dorms, we were moving into our new online home.  Please ignore the boxes and don't mind the saw dust, we're still putting the final coats of paint on the walls.  But take a look around and let us know what you think.  (And if you run across a broken link or something else that looks wrong, please alert our webmaster).
