Andy Nagraj - Adjunct Faculty



Biography

Anand (Andy) Nagraj is an actor, singer, and playwright/composer/lyricist. He first came to the University of PIttsburgh as a teaching artist-in-residence in 2011, and has been seen in Pitt's productions of Shakespeare's Lovers & FightersSweeney Todd (Judge Turpin), Harvest (Jeetu), and, most recently, the title role in Agamemnon.

Some of his stage work includes: Forever Plaid at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre;Mnemonic with Quantum Theatre; the title role in Othello for the Ohio Shakespeare Festival;Disney's Beauty & the Beast with Virginia Repertory Theatre; Court Theatre; TimeLine Theatre; 9 plays at Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players, including Private LivesThe Threepenny OperaWay to HeavenThe HomecomingOur Town, and the world premiere of Theresa Rebeck's O Beautiful; and two seasons with the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival, where he was an Associate Artist.
 

Andy has performed many roles from Shakespeare's canon, including Posthumus, Bottom, Othello, Falstaff, Launce, Horatio, Osric, Laertes, Chiron, Demetrius, Polixenes, Jaques (twice), and one of the gentlemen of Verona. Some directors with whom he has worked include Adrian Hall, Mark Lamos, Marco Barricelli, Warner Shook, Anne Kauffman, Charles Newell, and Jewel Walker.

In addition to his work onstage, Andy has also worked in commercials and voiceover, and with his collaborator, Jonathan Spivey, he is the co-author (book, music, & lyrics) of the musical comedy Murphy's Law

Andy is originally from Yorktown, VA, and studied at The School at Steppenwolf, the University of Richmond, and the University of Delaware's Professional Theatre Training Program. Proud member of Actors' Equity Association.
