Sam is a graduate of Columbia University and the British American Drama Academy.
Biography
Sam Turich is an actor, director and playwright who has worked in films, on television, and at theaters in New York and around the country. While in New York he was an acting instructor with the New York Film Academy, Gotham City Improv Theater and School, and Theatre Direct International. He is currently the artist-in-residence for Quantum Theatre’s education program.
Sam’s acting credits include recent films with Seth Rogen and Chris Kattan, and a recurring role on NBC’s Law & Order. He appeared opposite Oscar-winner Joanne Woodward in the movie Blind Spot, and has appeared in numerous national television commercials as well as pilots for ABC TV. A short film he wrote and stars in, The Box, was an official selection of the Palm Beach International Film Festival and San Francisco Independent Film Festival. His most recent directing credit is Mombies, a short film in the feature Greetings From Pittsburgh: Neighborhood Narratives.
He recently returned to his hometown of Pittsburgh and starred in the Bricolage Theatre world premiere of Key to the Field, the Playhouse Rep’s world premiere of The Chicken Snake. Other theater credits include an appearance at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami in the world premiere of the original stage comedy Crush the Infamous Thing, which he wrote and performs. Sam played the lead in Kyle Jarrow’s Armless, winner of the Best Overall Production Award at the New York International Fringe Festival. Regional credits include: Williamstown Theatre Festival, Pittsburgh Public Theater, City Theatre. For Quantum Theater: Cymbeline, Antony & Cleopatra (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Best Supporting Actor), The Merchant of Venice.
Sam has been professional improviser for over fifteen years. He is a director at Gotham City Improv, where he created the long-running weekly main stage improv show Off the Top of Our Heads. This company won the 6th Big Apple Improv Festival and the title "Best Improv Group in New York.
