Aidan Upton is a theatre arts minor.
What are you studying at Pitt?
I am studying architecture with a minor in theater arts.
How do you see your theatre education contributing to your future goals?
To my surprise, theater training has sort of bled into my architecture courses. Arch studios are built around formal presentations and these "reviews" are as much about selling your project as it is about selling yourself to a client. Much of acting is designing an audience's perception of you and receiving the opportunity to practice this on the scale of a stage has informed my work in my major.
Is there a research opportunity, production, internship, class, etc. that has been instrumental to your time at Pitt or in helping you form your post-graduation goals?
Taking my first theater class my first semester at Pitt showed me that I love acting and began my journey through the program's various performance courses.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
I would like to be an actor after graduation. I have come to really love the art and I want to continue this training beyond my college career.
