Kami Beckford - Intership Spotlight

Kami Beckford spend the summer as a props intern at Saint Michael's Plyhouse in Colchester, Vermont.  Here is her story and some photos of her work.

This was my first time working in a professional theater. I assisted in the design and production of props for the four shows we did . I got to work on everything from pulling furniture pieces, to paper props (newspapers I made in Photoshop), to food props (like a mousse cake made from wall Spackle), and cutting/hemming 30 foot long silks that hung down on the stage (I'm now very good at sewing). My favorite project was creating fake Emmy's for the last show - I got to draft and 3D print the bases of the awards and laser cut the wings. I was really grateful to get the chance to push myself and meet friends that are also passionate about producing art. We'll be cheering each other on for years to come.
