JC Bardzil is a seasoned theatre professional with over fifteen years of experience in technical production and education. Currently serving as the Technical Director in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Pittsburgh, he also teaches as an Adjunct Instructor, guiding students in scenic carpentry, theatrical electrics, rigging, and production work.
Bardzil’s career spans a diverse range of roles, including Point Park University, Atlantic Theatre Company, Cumberland County Playhouse, and California State University – Fresno. His work has encompassed technical direction, lighting design, sound supervision, and shop management, often involving complex problem-solving, budget oversight, and coordination with artists, designers, and safety officials.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Theatre Arts and Japanese, his technical fluency includes proficiency in Vectorworks, Lightwright, QLab, ETC Eos lighting consoles, and Yamaha and Allen & Heath sound systems. Bardzil was awarded the 2024 Orosz Award for Excellence in Emerging Leadership. His work reflects a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments and advancing the craft of technical theatre through both academic and production-based mentorship.
