Mina Kawahara is an artist-scholar, whose research and practice explores Musical Theatre and Queer Asian American Embodiment. Their book project in progress, Making Spaces for Ourselves: Queer Asian American Bodies in Contemporary American Musical Theatre considers Queer Asian Americans as crucial contributors to American musical theatre history and highlights Asian American performers and their sensorial experiences of embodying musical theatre material. She has worked as an actor, dramaturg, and director in productions in New York City, Philadelphia, and Maryland, and has also written multiple original works, which center around ideas of identity, belonging, and collective joy.
