Richard McMillan made a name for himself in the 1980s as a keystone member of the Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival. During his time on the stage, Rick set new standards of excellence in acting that endeared him to Pittsburgh audiences. For some time now, Rick has been fighting serious cancer of the thyroid, but this fall Rick will return here to his second artistic home in order to present a very special peformance of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters.
A charming, touching work of theatre, Love Letters follows the exchanges between two friends who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As Rick and Anne Louise read the letters aloud, we come to know their characters as evocative, touching, frequently funny individuals - though what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.

All proceeds from this once-in-a-lifetime performance will go to a fund for undergraduate theatre students at the University of Pittsburgh named in honor of Richard McMillan. This new fund will continue Rick's legacy and dedication to excellence as the Department of Theatre Arts teaches the next generation of theatre artists.
